Your Nervous System: The Hidden Operating System Behind Healing
June 16, 2026Today, August 12, 2026, I FINALLY got to say something in class that I’ve secretly been wanting to say for years:
“Well… THAT happened.”
And it was glorious.
We were talking about the power of our thinking—specifically, how positive thinking strengthens us while negative thinking weakens us—when suddenly the room had one of those rare, beautiful moments where the idea didn’t just make sense intellectually.
It clicked.
You could practically SEE the light bulbs going off. One student made the connection, then another, and another… and suddenly there was this collective epiphany spreading across the room.
I just stood there for a second, taking it all in, and then realized:
This is the moment.
“Well… THAT happened.”
I have ALWAYS wanted to have one of those moments as a teacher—the kind where you can actually watch understanding take root in real time.
There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing students move from simply hearing an idea to recognizing it in themselves. Positive thoughts can strengthen our confidence, focus, persistence, and willingness to keep going. Negative thoughts can do exactly the opposite.
And today, they didn’t just hear me say it.
They saw it. They felt it. They GOT it.
The. Entire. Class.
Those are the moments that make teaching so worthwhile.
And yes, I’m still ridiculously happy that I finally got to say…
“Well, THAT happened.”
